Mark Hughes Chief Executive Officer
Mark, who has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Pretoria University, has an established competence in the on- and off-highway automotive, construction, mining, agriculture and industrial sectors, and is a specialist in the management, marketing, sales and support of products and services to these industries.
He has over 25 years of experience at senior management level having previously held Managing Director/CE roles at Babcock Africa (Volvo Construction Equipment, DAF), Group Five Construction Materials and Kaltire as well as Bell Equipment where he was Director of Sales and Marketing.
Mark has travelled extensively, internationally, regionally and locally, and is adept at interacting with people of all cultures and backgrounds.
Wim Kotzé Financial Director
Wim qualified as a Chartered Accountant (South Africa) in December 1996 after obtaining a BCom (Accounting) Honours degree at the University of Pretoria in 1993 and completing articles at Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC).
He joined the Barloworld Group in 1997 as Financial Manager in the motor industry and was promoted to Finance Director for the Barloworld Group in Botswana in 2003. Returning to South Africa in 2008, he held various positions at Barloworld Corporate in strategy and group reporting. In 2013 he led the group project for Hyperion reporting.
Wim joined the BHBW team in 2018 as Finance Director.
Didi Dekker Chief Operating Officer
Didi qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1998 after obtaining a BCom (Accounting) Honours degree at the University of Pretoria. He joined the Barloworld internal audit team in 1998 and served across many divisions including the equipment, motor, hardware and paint businesses.
In 2000, he joined the Barloworld Energy division where he was part of the team that brought over the agriculture business from Boeresake in 2001. He served as Financial Manager of the materials handling division from 2004 to 2006 before becoming part of the operations team. From 2007 to 2014 he served as GM KwaZulu-Natal, GM Central Operations and Senior GM with responsibility for the entire forklift business.
After a stint in the family business Didi re-joined BHBW in 2018, predominantly in the agricultural space. He was promoted to various positions, including Senior GM Agriculture, and was appointed as Chief Operations Officer in 2022.
Carlo Venter Head of Strategy
Carlo qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1998, with a B.Compt (Hons) degree from the University of the Free State, after completing his articles with PwC. He has over 25 years’ financial and senior management experience gained in the public and private sectors, and has worked in IT, training, the petro-chemical and construction industries as well as fund management.
Carlo started out as Financial Manager in the cement (PPC) and hospitality (Peermont Global) industries before taking a consulting role with Deloitte, which saw him move to Botswana in 2002. Upon his return to South Africa he held various senior management positions focusing on turnaround strategies and systems implementation.
He started as Financial Executive at BHBW in 2019, and has been the Head of Strategy since 2020.
Robin Albany Chief Sales Officer
Robin started his career as an electrician, qualifying in 1992. He spent 20 years in the electronic security industry, eventually becoming Managing Director at Sesco Security. The business was successfully sold to Regal Security where Robin continued as Sales Director.
In 2010 he joined our business as General Manager – Africa and Expansions. After successfully opening an agriculture branch in Mozambique and a materials handling branch in Angola, he then set up an agriculture division in Russia. Robin and his family moved to Novosibirsk in Russia in 2012.
Upon his return in 2015 he was appointed as General Manager – Aftersales for the materials handling business. In March 2020 he was promoted to Senior General Manager for materials handling, and in March 2022 he was appointed as Chief Sales Officer for BHBW.
Cheril Moodley Head of Human Capital and Transformation
Cheril, who obtained a degree in Human Resources Management in 2010, leads the human capital department, with a focus on creating an inclusive culture at BHBW.
Cheril has predominantly worked in the manufacturing and capital equipment industries, and has vast experience in the fields of employment equity, labour law, talent management, recruitment and selection, training and development.
As a member of the senior leadership team, Cheril contributes directly to long- and short-term strategic objectives of the organisation while maximising organisational effectiveness. She took over B-BBEE responsibilities for BHBW in 2022 and as of 2023 achieved a Level 2 B-BBEE rating for the business.
Cheril is registered with the South African Board of People Practices and ensures BHBW maintains high levels of compliance and ethics in HR governance.
Veronique Grobler IT Manager
Veronique is an information technology specialist with extensive experience in IT solutions, business analysis and management.
She joined our materials handling business in 2004, and was appointed SAP Equipment Master Gatekeeper and SAP CS Super User while working in sales administration. In 2007 she moved to sister company Barloworld Equipment, where she gained valuable experience in systems administration and systems accounting, and also became a member of the Equipment SAP team.
She rejoined our business in 2011 as Business Support Administrator, and subsequently served as Functional Analyst, Business Analyst and also Parts Manager before returning to IT in 2022.
Veronique’s responsibilities include the alignment of IT strategy with business objectives, maintaining control structures and tools that protect the integrity and availability of information to support effective business reporting and decision-making as well as governance.
Fatima Dada Finance Executive
Fatima is a Chartered Accountant CA(SA) with strong financial management experience in the ICT, agriculture and capital goods sectors. She started her career as Finance Manager at Erita Communications in 2007 before joining the Auditor General of South Africa as trainee auditor, going on to become an Assistant Manager. She has also worked as Senior Financial Planning and Analysis Specialist at BCX, a subsidiary within the Telkom Group.
Fatima’s responsibilities include process improvement, aligning processes with the latest technologies and methodologies in order to streamline and enhance finance and accounting efficiencies.
